For anyone who is not seen or used these, I am very thankful to Rich for making them. Most people solder their connections…diode to driver…driver to battery. I prefer to use Deen’s non polarized micro connectors. This allows for a more modular approach and ease of troubleshooting.
For instance, if the laser stopped functioning I can remove the diode and connect a test wire with a micro-connector directly to the variable power supply. It the diode works, than it must be the driver which I can also hook up to test leads which are long enough to allow me to use a clamp meter to assess the current while one end is connected to the dummy load and the other to a power source.
